NEW RANGE SAFETY SIGN! It's
gotten to the point that
Insurance companies influence
our life in many ways! The
Club isn't immune from that
either! During a recent phone
conversation with our
insurance supplier we were
informed of the necessity to
have a sign placed on our
range spelling out rules and
regulations! We had no choice
but to comply! So if during
your next shooting outing you
notice this sign please don't
be insulted! We know most
members are quite safe and
proficient in the handling of
firearms! It's just if we're
not signed our premium would
increase!
RANGE IMPROVEMENTS! Along
about the third week of July
we anticipate having to close
the rifle range for the day!
During that time the 100yd.
backstop will be rebuilt by a
hired excavation team! The
end result will be that the
dirt backstops height will
increase by about four feet!
We regret any inconvenience
to our members but safety
first as they say!
For now that's all there is!
Hope to see you soon.
Please have a happy and safe
4th of July!
→ One of our members,
John W., has created an
interesting spot at
www.MySpace.com/TVRGC show
club related photo's.
Currently he has some
wonderful ones of our March
Shotgun Surprise Shoot and
The Joe Cuz Match. check them
out. I think you'll enjoy
them!
→ Speaking of thanks we
should give a huge one to
Frank C. He donated a
gorgeous 18 horse riding
tractor to the Club. So if
the Club grounds look better
then ever make sure you thank
Frank for his generosity!
→ Rifle Rack- our
donated rifle rack was
raffled off netting about
$125.00! The winner of the
rack, Edward H., redonated
that rack back to the Club.
Rumor has it that fine piece
will be raffled once again
and the proceeds, again,
added to The Range
Improvement Fund.
→ 2009 Club T-shirts-
Our initial order was
completely sold out between
pick up Friday and the day of
the shoot. A new order has
been placed and should be
ready for pick up by Friday
May First. This could
possibly be the last order
for this year! So don't
hesitate.
Order yours today by
contacting Doc @ 469-8584 or
e-mail
Doc
→ If you have any ideas
for a competitive shoot
please contact us.
We have trouble thinking and
need your help!
Unfortunately there're no
shoots scheduled after April
26th. If you have an idea for
one and don't feel you have
the time or know how to make
it happen let us know! We
have a crew of members that
can help you put it together.
They can handle everything
from advertising to range
officers and would enjoy
making your shoot idea a
reality!
→ NRA Membership- Club
Recruitment Director George
H. apparently wants to become
the Tommy Fucillo of the
Taconic. He's decided to
continue offering NRA Basic
Membership for $10.00's till
Memorial Day. To take
advantage of this HUGE offer
contact us here or call
George @ 421-9635!
→ Do you like shooting
but hate the noise? Or maybe
you don't like to reload? If
you said yes to either one of
those members John W., Bill
T. and Don B. have the answer
to your problem. It's called
Airguns! They've even built a
75 yard range at the Club for
you to enjoy them with. This
range has been under
construction for the last few
month's and is really shaping
up. When done it'll feature a
covered firing point and
knockdown targets. For more
info on the range and any
interest in airguns contact
us here. I'll pass it on to
them. It also should be
mentioned the Club has six
air-rifles that can be used
by any member. This just
might be a good way to
introduce the wife, kids or
grandkids to the shooting
sport too!
So don't sit and think about
it. Just do it!
The Taconic Valley Rod and Gun
Club was incorporated in
1927!
It was in existence for many years
before that though. In fact Teddy
Roosevelt was a regular competitor on
our grounds when he was New York City
Police Commissioner from 1895 to
1897. In short this makes our club
some where around 111 years old!
Quite an accomplishment and something
we as members should all take pride
in and celebrate.

Originally
incorporated in 1927, the Taconic
Valley Rod and Gun Club is located
off Dater Hill Road in the hamlet
of Eagle Mills, Town of Brunswick,
Rensselaer County New York. The
club property boasts rifle ranges
of 50, 100 and 200 yards with
covered firing line, 50 foot pistol
range with covered firing line,
informal trap and archery ranges,
and Clubhouse and picnic area.
Small by comparison to many other
fish and game clubs, this allows
for a more close knit group able to
respond to the needs of our
membership and facilities.Few organized shoots are
scheduled by the Club. Rather,
groups of members will meet for
various activities on the Club
grounds centered on the shooting
sports. Shooting the bull in the
Clubhouse is popular on Sunday
afternoons!
Meetings are held the second Sunday
of each month at 2:00 pm in the Tom
Parker Memorial Clubhouse. Work
parties are held occasionally,
usually announced at the meetings,
in the quarterly newsletter, or on
this website. A cookout is held on
the club grounds during August, and
a holiday party is held.
Total membership ranges between 70
and 100 members. In order to join,
prospective members should complete
a membership application and submit
with $10 application fee during a
regular club meeting, or on any
Sunday afternoon when at least 4
Board members are present. Annual
dues are required.
Club dues have remained low for
several years now, due in large
part to the efforts of your
officers and board members who
never spend a dollar if we don't
have to. Please pay your dues
promptly.
